In modern biological fermentation industries, lactic acid, as an important organic acid, is widely used in food, medicine, chemical industry, and biodegradable plastics. With the continuous increase in lactic acid production, the treatment of its byproduct, lactic acid gypsum, has become increasingly concerning. Lactic acid gypsum is mainly calcium sulfate precipitate generated through a lime neutralization process during lactic acid production. It has a certain water content, high viscosity, and is difficult to dehydrate. I. Overview of the Lactic Acid Industry and the Generation of Lactic Acid Gypsum
Lactic acid is mainly obtained through microbial fermentation of sugar-containing raw materials such as corn, cassava, and sugarcane.
